Some people meet each other by chance. Others meet because they are truly ready for love and brave enough to open their hearts again. Robin and Vlada’s story is a beautiful example of how two people from different countries found each other at exactly the right moment in life.
Robin, a 64-year-old government employee from Brussels, Belgium, and Vlada, a 53-year-old cosmetologist from Kharkiv, Ukraine, both came to matchmaking with one sincere goal to find the right person for life.
After several years of loneliness, Robin admitted in his very first letter to Vlada:
“I’ve almost forgotten the joy of a woman’s embrace, the feeling of her fingers in my hair, the happiness of holding a loved one’s hand… there are so many things you can experience together as a couple. Living without affection and tenderness is difficult.”
These words deeply touched Vlada because she understood exactly how he felt. She had also been single for several years. Living in Kharkiv during wartime made her rethink many things about life, happiness, and the future. She realized that life should not be postponed and that she deserved to be happy now.
Their correspondence began on February 21, 2025, and with every new letter they discovered more and more things in common.
Both Robin and Vlada are passionate dog lovers. Vlada has a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named William, who quickly became part of many of their conversations and brought warmth to their communication.
Traveling was another shared passion. They exchanged memories and impressions from places they had both visited. Interestingly, when the war started in Ukraine, Belgium became the country where Vlada temporarily relocated with her daughter. Later, she admitted that perhaps life had already been guiding her toward this country long before she met Robin. Robin himself had visited Ukraine before the war and always had warm feelings about the country and its people.
Vlada was especially touched by Robin’s kindness and generosity when she learned that he had donated money to a children’s home. Small actions often reveal a person’s true character better than words.
Robin also genuinely enjoyed Ukrainian cuisine and was sincerely interested in Vlada’s culture, traditions, and everyday life.
Step by step, through sincere communication and emotional openness, they built a strong emotional connection. Robin often asked Vlada about her dreams and future in Belgium what places she would like to visit, what experiences she wanted to have, and what new things she hoped to try. Most importantly, he assured her that he would support her in every step of this new chapter of life.
For Vlada, this support meant a lot. Moving to another country is never easy, and it was important for her to feel that there was a reliable man beside her someone she could trust and rely on completely.
By the time they finally met in Belgium on July 1, 2025, they already had a strong emotional foundation for a serious relationship. Their first meeting only confirmed what they both already felt through months of communication.
Soon after that meeting, they made an important decision Vlada would move to Belgium in November 2025 to start a new life together with Robin.
On March 6, 2026, Robin and Vlada became husband and wife.
Today, Vlada is actively integrating into her new life in Belgium. She attends French language courses, works on confirming her diplomas to continue her career as a cosmetologist, and most importantly she has a loving husband beside her.
As Vlada beautifully said:
“Now I finally feel that there is a man beside me who is my stone wall in life.”
Their story reminds us that love has no age, no borders, and no perfect timing. What truly matters is being emotionally ready to meet the right person and allowing yourself to trust love again.
